This past week, millions of users online and offline took action to defend the internet from the threat of censorship. This unprecedented global day of action shook Washington, leading dozens of senators and representatives to come out in opposition to the PROTECT IP Act or PIPA (in the Senate) and the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) in the House.
Now, PIPA is coming up for a major vote on Tuesday, and we need 41 Senators to vote "No" or this internet censorship bill will almost certainly become law.
Please sign this urgent petition, which we’ll deliver ahead of Tuesday's vote to the many senators still on the fence about this legislation. Tell them that the internet is too important an enabler of human rights to make hasty decisions and backroom deals about its governance.
